I keep seeing commercials for the new television show V and every single time I go "who the hell is that girl? she looks so familiar!"

I just got it. It's Morena Baccarin who played Inara in Firefly. Also, a quick look at imdb tells me that Alan Tudyk is also in this show.

Now I'm interested.

    <lj:music>Jay-Z - Empire State of Mind (feat. Alicia Keys) | Powered by Last.fm</lj:music>

The only thing I like about Halloween is when kids come up to you and they're too shy to say "trick or treat" and they're super adorable and they smile so wide when you give them candy and say "thank you" in the cutest voices ever! One kid tried to give me candy from his bag and didn't understand why I gave him some more. So adorable!

I was going as a 50s girl and I was trying to do the classic Betty Page look but since I don't really have bangs anymore I had to find a way to make faux ones.

I ended up watching a tutorial on youtube and twisted my hair across my forehead to get that rounded look. I was half-convinced to just cut my bangs to do it but when I had the betty page look a couple years ago I had to curl them everyday or they would hang in my eyes and I like having easy maintenance hair.

The makeup. I did have red lipstick on but it eventually faded away after 8-9 hours. I don't have liquid eyeliner so I had to use a pencil on my top lid so the little wisps on the corners look weird. I also never use a pencil underneath, just black eyeshadow, so that was weird. Other than that I just filled in my eyebrows. My skin tone is naturally pale so that was the easy part, haha.

This was at the mall and I absolutely love it! It was so awesome and easily the best costume I've seen to date. Such a great idea!

I am currently obsessed with the Jay-Z song, Empire State of Mind. Oh Jay, despite how crazy you and Beyonce are, you'll always be my favourite rapper. (Apparently Blueprint 3 went to #1 making it his 11th number one album. That's more than Elvis! - thanks xsavedbygracex for telling me that tidbit of info)

Basically I am being forced into wearing a costume. Okay, that's a lie. But I work at the world's largest mall! I have to dress up! So I'm just being a 50s girl. I have a dress that fits in perfectly, I bought some red lipstick, and I borrowed a flower for my hair from a friend of mine. Now just to figure out my hair and makeup. Woo.

And I'm going to make a halloween playlist for the store. Should be interesting.

Random picture of me. My hair has so much volume if I don't comb it after I shower. Could also be because I have so much hair! (Also, I think I look so bad without glasses. When I wear my glasses you don't notice the huge bags under my eyes.)

I'm dumb. I accidently deleted this entry instead of editing a typo. So, erm, yes.

__

So. I am a huge sucker for anything FOB. Which means today I bought the Go Merch Infintiy package of the BND greatest hits album. That cost me about $100 because s&h cost me an arm and a leg.

Tonight I get an email from OCK being all "oh lookie we have more packages with DIFFERENT stuff you want (and no, we know the hair thing is creepy but so is Pete and you all know that so don't even try to act surpised)." So... I'm going to buy the Deluxe Edition because I don't really need a Thnks Fr Th Mmrs plaque/lock of hair (I'm not smart enough to make a cloning machine, and even if I was I wouldn't want to make a clone of Pete. Patrick, yes, but not Pete no matter how much I heart his stupid face). I just want the colored vinyl. (And apparently I'm going to be an OCK forever if it actually gives me another 3 years of membership.)

<strike>So.. if anybody wants a copy of the album but doesn't want to pay a lot I'll gladly sell it to you for like $10.</strike> taken by xsavedbygracex which saves me on s&h lol.

Stupid FOB and my stupid hoarding.

ETA: oh, oh, you know that new picture of Jon and Ryan? WTF? Like, okay, Ryan looks fine. He's got the long, curly, skateboarding/hockey hair going on. But, JON WALKER OMG. He looks like that dirty hobo wearing the pants with only one leg that Patrick Stump chased down to buy him a proper outfit. That's my opinion. I miss stereotypical looking boy Jon Walker.

When you take a class or attend a big meeting, where do you prefer to sit? Up close or way back where you can make a speedy get-away? Can you force yourself to focus even when you're not interested?

View 615 Answers

It depends on whether I'm interested in the class/meeting.

After the first lecture in a class I can usually tell how the professor teaches and whether he'll be explaining stuff that I'm truly interested in. If I am interested, I sit near the front, closer to the middle. If I am in no way interested I stick to the back so I can do whatever on my laptop.

In meetings, I usually sit in the middle because what is being said is probably important and I should know it but I don't want to look over-eager by sitting right up front or too much of a slacker but lazing around in the back.

I usually have trouble focusing if I'm not interested and don't really see a need to focusing. If it's important and most definitely going to be on an exam or I need to know the information to perform my job competently, then yes, I will pay attention if I'm not interested. But if it's neither interesting nor important to know, I won't.

And there is my tl;dr explanation of that.

(Apparently Brendon linked to some 10th dimension youtube video or something however long ago? I'm finally watching it and my brain hurts. Reason number one why I am no physicist.

Also, my internet keeps cutting out. I hate that I have to be in the basement for it to work consistently.)

I was debating between the usual choices of Perks of Being A Wallflower or Catcher in the Rye (which are two amazing books) but I am a history geek, especially european history, and while this book does embellish on events, it reads like a story instead of like a textbook and I absolutely love that. Textbooks are hard to take in, too many facts being thrown at you, but this book gets you involved. The authors use actual letters sent from leader to leader and conversations they actually had. It even contains a part about Hitler's birthday and how Hitler just sulked in the corner because I can totally see Hitler doing that. And, er, I'm going to stop rambling on about it. It's very good, imo.

Need to get my iron level up before next time.

Trying to figure out what I'm going to go back to school for and if I'll have enough money for tuition. (Bachelor of Arts, major in history; if I save 80% of my paychecks, yes)

I really want a new laptop. Mine runs slow and yeah I could just get some RAM added in but my mac is the old school mac and I want a shiny new one with LED keyboards and silvery casing. But that will cost me around $2000 with student pricing. Which sucks. A lot. :( If the economy was good I could probably convince my parents to buy me a new one, but alas, with hours being cut at the steelmill my father is unfortunately broke a lot more now than he's used to.

Bah, money. I almost didn't go, I almost turned around as I was driving there, but I'm really glad I didn't, even if we didn't go to the waterpark on sunday because everyone was WAY TOO hungover to do anything but sleep/eat greasy foods.

Number Deux.
New Perspective video. NOMNOMNOMNOM. Like, damn. Spencer Smith, you are looking way too fine for your own good. And Brendon, jfc. We saw tons of people walking back and forth over that bridge Pete went over. That night will make my life for a very long. So amazing.

The Epicness Of The Past Two (2) Days

Alright, so first off, this entry from this point forward is going to have SPOILERS for the CURRENT BLINK 182 TOUR. Alright? So, if you DON'T WANT TO KNOW anything about this tour DO NOT READ THIS ENTRY. That includes spoilers for FALL OUT BOY and THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS.

Secondly, this is going to be tl;dr for all of it BUT you should at least read the first day because it's pretty awesome. And maybe the second because that day has all the pictures/video.

Okay. So, xsavedbygracex (Katt), prescott_iv (Steff), and myself left at noon to make the 3 hour drive from Edmonton to Calgary. We got in just before 3pm and headed straight to the hotel to check in. We walked down the street to grab something to eat and then spent the next hour and a half watching "What Not To Wear" and "Cake Boss". We called a cab and headed to the show.

The ticket said that doors opened at 7pm but that was a huge lie. We got there at about 6:20 and were sitting in our seats by 6:40.

That was how far we were from the stage. The camera made it look farther away because they still weren't bad seats at all. Or, actually, now that I think about it, that was how far away we were for AAR. We were actually sitting in the wrong section and right before FOB came on we found out and moved one section closer so for FOB and Blink we were even closer than that.

The All-American Rejects were on first and played a 40 minute set (which we found weird for a first band opener but later found out why they were on longer). Tyson was a) wearing no shirt (oh la la) and b) really really drunk. Or so we assumed because none of us had seen AAR live before. Tyson Ritter is fucking hilarious. He swore every other word, inserted swears into songs as much as possible ("Where's your picket fence, bitch?!") and tried to get as much audience participation as possible. Basically it ended with him calling us pussies and to just "fuck it". And the way he dances! So amazing!

So, the entire day we had been following Joe on Twitter because his flights to Calgary kept getting delayed/canceled/etc. Pete had twittered:
Ruhroh hour and a half til we play and joes not here yet. Cliff hanger... Sucks when u have to just sit in airports. #makeittrohman!
So we were worried that Joe wasn't going to make it but he did! He's a trooper!

Fall Out Boy was AMAZING! I wish they had played more songs from Folie A Deux but they still played an amazing set. We couldn't really hear a lot of the inbetween song talking. I blame it on Calgary sucking but who knows what the reason was. Anyways, there was one part where Pete turned to Patrick and all I heard was "too bad... blahblahblah... your girlfriend...blahblah" and Patrick answering "uh... no. I don't want that." No idea what actually went on lol. There wasn't a whole lot to their set. They basically stuck to the setlist and played their songs. I think it was partly that it was their first night on the tour, working out everything, and Joe had probably just arrived so they weren't really in sync or something. Either way, Patrick sang amazingly and it was just awesome.

Inbetween FOB and Blink's set, Steff got a text from one of her friends letting us know about Pete DJing at some club after the show. Once we found out that it was only $5 cover with our ticket stub we decided that we were definitely going to go. We joked around about keeping it hush hush and I went on about how it wasn't actually Pete Wentz DJing but rather Pete Best, who was the first other Pete I could think of. And then I remembered that he was the original drummer for The Beatles and probably nobody in the vicinity knew who the hell that was and we also weren't sure if he was dead or not so... this has no point to anything.

Then, it was Blink 182's turn. And oh man, it was amazing! Truthfully, I don't know a lot of the words to most of their songs. I know the chorus and the general tune but unless it's "I Miss You" or "All The Small Things" and various popular ones I don't know all the words. BUT! They make you feel like having such a great time that didn't matter at all. I still enjoyed every second and I still can't believe I actually saw Blink 182 live.

Mark and Tom were joking around and making fun of each other all night. They would dance weirdly at each other and just insult each other. "We're going to break up again now that you've said that." They were just hilarious. There was one song that Mark messed up on so after it was finished he said he'd make it up to us by singing our national anthem. After a few lines he said that we were even and that the Flames rocked (much to our dismay). I have audio of it but NO IDEA how to get it embeded in here so you don't have to download it. It's only 20 seconds long so if you want to hear Mark sing a bit of the Canadian national anthem download it here.

Part way through the show, Mark said that he wanted to hear one person so he got down to the barricade and told one guy that this was his chance, he had to say something amazing into the microphone or forever be humiliated. The guy just said "My name is (enter name here) and this is the best fucking night of my life!" and Mark and Tom just cheered for him.

There was also a time when Tom told everybody to shut the fuck up and appreciate the bass solo coming up and everybody was just cheering and he just kept telling us to shut up and Mark was all, "I want you to listen to me as an artist!" or something very similar to that.

And one point, all the lights were off and Tom was just like, "Fuck! I can't see my setlist! Fuck! Turn the lights on!" And another time he told them to turn off all the lights and they didn't and he kept yelling at them to do it and then they'd do it and turn back on 3 seconds later. He is fucking hilarious.

Travis' solo during the encore was SO FUCKING BALLIN' I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN! Best thing I've ever seen at a concert. EVER. So insane.

So, after the show we grabbed a cab to some club called Vinyl Retro Lounge. I had a few drinks while we waited for Pete to show up so by the time he came out around midnight I was kind of drunk. The dance floor (which wasn't that big) was packed but we decided to go in and try to make our way to the DJ booth. It actually wasn't that hard, only took us a few minutes to finally reach it. We saw Pete and oh man is he short! Like, we knew he was short but compared to the others on stage he looks normal so it was just a little shocking and funny to us.

People were sticking their hands over the wall (which was pretty tall) to get Pete to high five them or touch them or whatever. So I did it and Pete Wentz high fived me! Then Katt and I thought it would be hilarious to just starting doing all the hand signs including diamonds, the cobra, and the decaydance one. Pete touched Katt's hand when she did a diamond over the wall and he did the same for me when I did the diamond. Pete's security saw what we were doing and was throwing all the signs back at us. Then, one guy got Pete to sign his hat so then EVERYBODY bombarded Pete with ticket stubs and paper, etc. Katt managed to get her ticket stub signed so I decided to try my luck. Pete was ignoring a lot of them, trying to focus on actually DJing, but he did sign a few when he had the chance. Well, I did the diamonds sign with my ticket stuck between two fingers and the security guy from before came over and grabbed my ticket, leaned over to Pete, made sure Pete signed my ticket and made sure I got it back. It was so nice of him and I was super happy!

The entire time we were up there, we were getting pictures of Pete. I got a few on my phone and a couple on Steff's. Some guy also asked me to use his iphone to take pics. He also asked if it was possible to zoom on iphones but I told him no, as far as I knew. I don't know why he wanted to zoom since the pics we got were pretty close.

My signed ticket stub.

The dance floor at the club.

He was definitely enjoying himself. Some of my pictures are weird and blurry from he dancing around and stuff. (and he twittered later that he thought it was a solid DJ set)

So, after that we left because we were tired and super sweaty and we had to check out of our hotel by 11 the next morning, so, yeah. I still can't believe we left in the middle of Pete's DJ set. Now that I think about it, I wish we had stayed longer but I was so tired then that all I wanted to do was sleep. It was super amazing either way.

Next day, we woke up and went to Humpty's for breakfast before leaving Calgary to come back home. For the record, I HATE driving in Calgary. The roads do not make sense to me. Because there are so many hills all the roads curve a lot so it doesn't seem like the city is following a grid system and it's retarded how one street can be 17th ST and walk down two blocks where it should be 19th ST it's actually 43Ave. Like. I don't understand.

Anyways, so it took us an hour to get to Gasoline Alley by Red Deeer (where I needed to get out and stretch. How I drove 12 hours basically straight to Vancouver and 12 hours straight back within 72 hours last year boggles my mind) and about an hour and a half from there to Edmonton. I just didn't care bout the speed limit and ended up doing 120/130 most of the way.

In the city we just did random stuff. Drive Steff's boyfriend to the bank, go to West Ed to see if maybe FOB decided to wander around there, since they've never been to Edmonton before, and then we made our way to the venue for round two.

This time around we had closer seats. Still on the second level but much closer. We could actually see faces. Anyways, so AAR were up first, obviously. Tyson was half naked, again, and not wearing any shoes. He also had glitter all over his shoulders/back. He was dancing around and doing basically all the same stuff he did in Calgary. He got the girls to go "weee" and the boys to go "uh!" and lots of people actually participated, unlike the folks in Calgary. Halfway through the set he also ended up going, "Does my glitter scare you, bitches?! You're totally scared of my glitter. Boo! Scream 'ah!'" and everybody screamed 'ah' at him and he replied "don't be scared of my glitter." He was hilarious.

<lj-embed id="6" />

Then it was Fall Out Boy. They seemed way more into everything. Patrick even spoke a couple times.

Pete: This song is about love, but not that awkward love. (some stuff I don't really remember) It's about taking your clothes off, and taking their clothes off, and then... (goes over to Patrick) what do they do Patrick?
Patrick: Uh... ... have a dance party?
Pete: They have a dance party!

Near the end, Pete announced that they only had two songs left and that for the next song we got to choose between Take Over, The Breaks Over and I Slept With Someone In FOB... but we had to scream for which one we wanted. So Pete did it and it's obviously Take Over (which, I like, but would have preferred I Slept With...) but he turned to Patrick and aske for his opinion.

Pete: What do you think, Patrick? I think it was Take Over.
Patrick: Eh... let me ask.
Pete: Alright, you ask them.
Patrick: Hi everybody! So, which do you want to hear? Take Over, The Breaks Over? (waits for screams to end) Or I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy? (waits for screams) Hm... (obviously Take Over won as the screams were loud)
Pete: I Slept With Someone it is then!

And they, of course, played Saturday to end things. I was surprised that they didn't play What A Catch, Donnie but I think they'll wait until they're headlining again because I see What A Catch ending the show and Saturday for the encore. But that's just me.

Also, after FOB had finished their set we had realized that tonight they played 50 minutes while AAR had only played 30 instead of the 40/40 split the night before and so we checked twitter and found out that Joe had only made it to the venue 35 minutes before their set so AAR had to play longer to buy FOB some more time. It all made sense.

Oh, oh, during one song, Patrick was playing his guitar, his foot on the base of the 'F' and when he turned to go back to the microphone he ended up pushing the 'F' away. So, after the song, him and Joe go over and he fixes it and he backs up and does this weird little jig thing, it was so adorable. I wish I had filmed it, lol.

<lj-embed id="7" />
I obviously suck at filming songs in their entirety because I like to sing along but not when the camera is running so, yeah. Reason why these are only parts of songs.

<lj-embed id="8" />

<lj-embed id="9" />

<lj-embed id="10" />

<lj-embed id="11" />

<lj-embed id="12" />

Enough videos, right? Hahaha. I couldn't help myself. I had none from HCT two years ago so.

So, the big event, Blink 182. They were awesome and amazing, as always. The crowd was fucking crazy as well. Like, way more crazy than the Calgary crowd. About three or four random people made it on stage. One guy got shoved off the stage by one security guard, and another guy got tackled right behind Mark and ended up taking down Mark's microphone and stand. Mark just turned around and watched them while he kept playing and after the song he commented on all the Edmonton crazies and how they were a professional rock band because they had managed to finish the song despite said crazies.

By about halfway through the show the floor, which had been a quarter of the way full at the beginning, was half full and that was basically packed with people, not just people spread about. Pete even twittered about how when the lights go off people book it onto the floor. We saw one guy get tackled by a security guard and another security guard got destroyed by some skinny dude. They were running in groups and it was hilarious. I sort of wish we had done that but I don't really have the guts because I do not want to get tackled by a 300lb security guard.

Anyways, so Mark and Tom kept the banter going. I have a couple videos of them. Most of the time they would just go off and be like "fuck! play the song!" Mostly it was Mark yelling at Tom to stop talking and to just count the fucking song in already. I loved how they counted in a lot of their songs. I always wonder how bands know when to start at the same time. I suppose they have hints and stuff, but, yeah, I don't know, haha.

Halfway through somebody threw a demo CD onto the stage and Mark picked it up and started reading the band name and songs on it, as well as the members of the band. He said that they would be his next favourite band and then he threw it on the ground and stomped on it. Then he picked it up and said that he would listen to it later and tried to throw it across the stage to one of the tech guys but the entire thing just broke and he stared at it like he didn't mean for it to break. The way they did it was hilarious and not in a "screw little bands, we're not helping you because we are so much better" it was just teasing. Although I'm sure that band is not happy, hahaha.

At the end of the show, Mark did his song to Edmonton but it was way better than Calgary because for Calgary all he did was chant, "Thank you, Calgary" but for us he made an entire song. I don't know all of it but I did record some on my phone. You can download the first part here.

He kept going and Tom was just standing there watching him until he tried to get him to stop but Mark just kept going. So, Tom went over and unplugged Mark's guitar but Mark kept on singing. Eventually Tom left (Travis had been gone for a bit) and Mark wandered around the stage singing. Then he was like, "I wonder if I plugged my guitar back in..." so he did that and then tried to sing and play at the same time and ended up dropping the mic. So then he took off his guitar and went to the drums where he started playing and singing. Halfway through they turned off the drums and mic but he didn't notice until one of the techs told him. Then they turned it all back on and he said goodnight and stuff. You can download that part here.

However, Mark didn't leave he just kept on going. The lights were up and some people were leaving but he just kept playing the drums. The techs were taking the stage down around him but he wouldn't leave and he kept telling us to leave, that the show was over. Eventually, like five minutes after the main lights had gone up he left. It was funny and great. Mark is such an amazing guy.

<lj-embed id="13" />

<lj-embed id="14" />

<lj-embed id="15" />

<lj-embed id="16" />
Not the best quality, both picture and audio wise. I didn't think you were going to be able to hear the solo at all because everybody was going fucking nuts and screaming so loud. Like, it was ten times louder than the Calgary concert. Katt thinks it's because of the acoustics of Rexall but I just think it's because Edmonton is fucking awesome, ahaha.

<lj-embed id="17" />

<lj-embed id="18" />

And that would be that. Two fucking amazing nights. Today I woke up and was so sad when I realized that I had to get up to go to work, not get up to drive somewhere to see them again. If I could have, if I had thought about it, I would have booked off a couple more days and driven the five hours to Saskatoon to watch them tonight. So, so, SOO good. I'm not going to lie, FOB in HCT is STILL my number one concert because I was right on the barricade a couple feet from Pete Wentz and NOTHING, imo, beats being on the floor. However, these have taken up my #2 and #3 spots. Sorry Panic, but you've been pushed down to #4, better luck next time.

I'm turning 20 in 16 days and I think that's INSANE!

I had a huge tl;dr post about how I don't like my birthday (a-super emo reasons and b-I don't want to grow old! If you thought about it, I have a small peter pan complex) and blahblahblah.

But let's not talk about any of that. Let's talk about something else. Anything. Let me know...

WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?

It's so hot here! I always forget how hot it gets during this part of the summer. Blagh.

I went to Kdays on Thursday (and yes, it will always be kdays to me, not this stupid capital ex thing) and got burnt to a crisp! One of my shoulders actually has blisters all over it and it hurts to move my neck. Ugh, why do I fail so hard at life? I also have a burn on my hand from spilling a ladle of clam chowder on it last night at work.

Watching this seasons SYTYCD from the beginning. I've seen a few episodes down the line but whatever. I love this show so much. Sometimes I want to strangle Mary Murphy but sometimes I think she's so hilarious. Also, I <3 Adam Shankman and Mia Michaels. They're my two favourite choreographers. And Randi and Evan are my favourite couple, although I think Randi gets kicked out near the top ten or something. :(

FOB in 5 days! OMG! :)
